Every week, thousands of brand-new companies register with Secretary of State offices — the earliest public signal a business exists, before it has a website, reviews, or ads. The registries publish it in different places and shapes; this feed collects the states that publish free official bulk data into one normalized file every week: entity name, type, registration date, city/county, status, and the official source for every record.

Sources — official, always linked
Every record comes from the state government's own published registry data and carries its source URL. Nothing is scraped from third parties.
- CO — Colorado Secretary of State (via Colorado Information Marketplace) (official source; portal updated daily; we pull weekly)
- CT — Connecticut Secretary of the State (Business Registry on data.ct.gov) (official source; portal updated daily; we pull weekly)
- NY — New York Department of State (Division of Corporations) (official source; rolling 30-day filing file, updated daily; we pull weekly)
- OR — Oregon Secretary of State (Corporation Division) (official source; monthly file (published ~2 weeks after month end); pulled on the weekly run)
Excluded honestly: WA, VT, HI — states whose registries publish no free bulk data are listed with evidence, never guessed. Full per-state coverage notes ship with the product.
Honest limits
- States publish on different clocks — Colorado, Connecticut, and New York update daily (we pull weekly); Oregon publishes one file per month about two weeks after month end. Each row's window is documented in the coverage notes.
- New York's filing file publishes the county of the principal office, not a city; Colorado uses its own entity-type codes (DLLC = domestic LLC), shipped verbatim.
- Entity-level only: owner, officer, registered-agent, and filer names are never included — and trade names that look like a bare personal name are excluded by a filter rather than published.
- If a state changes its data format, that state is flagged stale and its last verified records are kept — a format change never becomes silently wrong data.
